March 21 the end of the mouse sagaI hope this is the final chapter of the mouse saga.
Last night we were sitting on the couch watching TV. My husband says "There he goes!" The mouse have the stupidity to run from the entertainment center to the credenza with us right there! So I followed it and watched. Within a minute, he was sniffing the mouse trap with the cheese I put on it....they kept licking the peanut butter off without setting off the trap. He starts nibbling......the black cat walks by within a foot of him...she never even knows he there. I'm really starting to wonder about her....
Needless to say, he sets the trap off and the bar squashes his brain in. Right between the eyes. I think I can say he felt absolutely nothing!! So I pick it up and take it outside and dispose of him. I think that all is well and we can now relax.
WRONG!!
Joshua doesn't want to sleep in his bed because he now hears a mouse in the wall next to his bed...a mouse that isn't there. So after a while of battling and compromising, he finally gets back into his bed and goes to sleep. Looks like we'll have a few bad nights.
This morning, My husband wakes me up again....not as early as 5 this time. He tells me that the cats (probably only the white one) has been chasing a mouse around the bedroom. So I finally get up and see the mouse. I get my orange rubber glove and the big flashlight. For the next hour, I chase this mouse while tearing apart my bedroom. (I've got a huge mess to clean up!!) I finally give up because we can't find him. I try to put the room back in order....
I get a few things around for the day. I go into the bathroom and there he is, cowering by the sink cupboards. I yell for Cena to come help. She just gives me a blank stare. I finally have to go pick her up and take her into the bathroom. The mouse runs behind the toilet. It was like watching a game of tennis. One cat on one side and the other cat on the other side. The mouse inbetween. The mouse would run to one side, get batted by a cat and then run to the other side and get batted again! This kept going for about 15 minutes.
All this time, I'm thinking "How am I going to kill this mouse??" The mouse finally makes me furious. He tries to climb the shelf behind the toilet. He must have heard me yell because he came out of that bathroom so fast I couldn't grab him. I got him cornered under my TV. By this time, my face must have been beet red! I was so mad!!! That battle lasted no more than 30 seconds. I squashed him!! And who said that the Nintendo was obsolete!!! I found a good use for it!!!
So now we have gotten rid of 3 mice. I hope this is the end of it and hopefully I can get some sleep!!!!! March 20 Mouse sagaFriday morning, my husband wakes me up to tell me that our two cats have trapped a mouse under his nightstand. Of course, I don't believe him....especially that early in the morning! Finally I see the mouse and I run and grab a big box and a rubber glove. I sit on the floor next to the nightstand. (mistake #1) Don't sit on the floor next to a frightened mouse! The mouse runs out from underneath the nightstand, runs on me, and turns into the bathroom to hide. I'm still in the bedroom screaming and shaking my pajamas. I finally calm down and help trap the mouse in the bathroom. The 2 cats both come in and start to play with the mouse.
My husband leaves for work....leaving me with a live mouse to dispose of. Thanks!! I let the cats play with it for a while hoping one will eat it and save me the trouble of getting rid of it. They just wanted to play with it. I finally took the mouse out in a waste basket and let him go across the road in the big drainage ditch.
Saturday morning, I'm in the shower. My big white cat chases a mouse from the kitchen to the dining room and it runs under my 'credenza'. Of course there is no way to get to it. I have to wait.
Sunday morning, I'm in the shower again. The big white cat chases the mouse from the credenza to the entertainment center in the living room.
I've had it!!! I bought some mouse traps and put some peanut butter on them and we went to church. We get back and check on the traps. The one by the credenza is untouched. The one by the entertainment center has been licked clean and he never set it off. Of course, this mean war!!!!
I put cheese on it last night and went to bed. My husband wakes me up at 5 this morning to tell me the trap went off. I get up, excited that I finally caught that monster. What a let down!! Both traps were still set and part of the cheese was missing. He just laughed as said he must have dreamed it.
I put more cheese on it this morning and now we are waiting....... March 08 Boring.....The bed frames sat out there for 6 days before someone came and got them!! I couldn't believe they sat there for so long!!! But at least they are gone!!!
My two-year old surprised me yesterday. We were sitting in a restaurant and he saw some fish etched in the glass. He decided to count them "one, two, three!!". First time he's done that!!!! I teared up right there in the restaurant!!
I went to Goodwill yesterday. I'm short on clothes that fit me. But I don't want to pay lots of money since I'm losing weight. I found a couple nice dresses, some nice shirts, and a new set of Pooh curtains for the boy's bedroom. He likes them.
Husband update: He is working many hours trying to learn the management position. When he is home, he is working. He finally took a weekend off. Still did work at home though. Things will get better when he gets a pattern down.
Sleet and snow this morning....rain tonight....thunderstorms tomorrow...... February 22 Lonely and bored......You never know how much you actually like your husband until he goes away. Mine has been gone since Tuesday morning.....gone on a business trip. He has sent me some really interesting pictures of planes and the view from the plane. (I never knew planes moved that fast!!) I wish he'd come back sooner.....
Still no Phil. Guess he is gone for good. Time for a new stray cat. Or maybe a dog....
If we get some chickens this spring, we'd better get a dog. Too many coons, skunks, coyotes, stray dogs, and other pests to keep chickens alive out here.
I'm performing a test. I set out a toddler bed frame and a metal queen size headboard at 6:30 pm out by the road. I'm curious how long it will be before someone stops and takes them. I live on a dirt road (well, mud right now) and only 2 cars have gone by in the last 20 minutes. If they actually dissappear before tomorrow, I may set more unwanted stuff out there!! hehe Won't need to have a garage sale in the summer!! hehe
Lesson learned today? Never leave your wife for longer than 24 hours or she may get bored and do weird stuff!! hehe February 17 Recovering Friday.....Still no Phil. Guess he found some other home to hang around at. I hope they feed him fish....he likes that. Hopefully they let him in the house the next couple of days. It's supposed to be REALLY cold.
Yesterday was fun for me. I love weather and we had it yesterday!! Wednesday night we got 3 inches of snow. Thursday morning we got freezing rain. That afternoon and evening we got some really good thunderstorms. Then we got another 2 inches of snow that night. This morning we have wind and on and off snow showers.
I thank God we still have power!! It went off yesterday for under a minute. Then later the lights dimmed way low for a couple seconds. Today they've been flickering like they are going to go out but they don't. It's been a fun couple of days.
February 10 Winter FridayIt snowed last night!! Well, early this morning. We're supposed to get an inch more today. Snow in the forcast for the next week!! FINALLY! It's winter! Now we can get winter over so spring will come.
We chopped the kid's hair last night. If he gets mistaken for a girl again, I'll be surprised! It is short! It hasn't been this short since before his first haircut!! I have to wait until he is napping to get a couple strands that we missed.
My husband got his cortizone shot in his back Wednesday. They ended up giving him a couple extra shots on either side of his lower back to help with the pain. He felt great yesterday! Of course he kept over doing it....
(This is for the family) We found out yesterday that there's a family of runaway children that live just down the road from my Dad. I guess his parents gave up custody of them and an aunt and uncle have custody. Two of the kids are always running away and the other two are good as gold. Two sheriff cars showed up in my driveway yesterday looking for the 13 year old boy. I guess they are harmless....they just won't stay home. They have no problem stealing from the store but they won't steal from people. There's a 13 year old (Jeffrey) and a 16 year old (CJ). THere's another boy but he's in juvenile detention right now.
It's a sad world when a child can't depend on his/her parents for guidance, support and love.
February 06 What a weekend!!I find out Friday night that my husband got the position of Store Manager!! He is now boss!! He is so stressed and worried and wants everything perfect!! hehe They picked the right person!!
Saturday I took my son to a little kids birthday party. That was fun. I ate too much cake (cute ice cream cone cakes - very cute!!) and stared at a baby too much. I dreamed of having a baby. The boy took a long nap when we got home. He played a lot!!
Sunday was a bit confusing. The Sunday School superintendant couldn't show up for church so he asked if I would take his place. No problem. I could do it while running the nursery. Then of course I was supposed to run the sound system for the main service since my husband had to work (he normally runs it). I had to find someone to run the nursery during the service. We had a slight shortage of people but after a couple of oops we finally got it figured out.
Then a surprise invite from my mother to have lunch at her house after church. We had a meeting first, then count the offering for the deposit, then run to store to cash in pop bottles, then the gas station so I have enough to get home, and then to mother's. Needless to say, we were the last ones there. Shredded venison barbeque sandwiches - yummy!!!!
We get home, kid takes a nap (played hard with the cousins), we have a small supper and then the boy decides to come down with a stomach flu bug. He complained he wanted a different shirt, then he'd complain his stomach hurt, then the shirt again. So I took him in his room to pick a new shirt and he threw up all over his bed, me and the floor. Of course he didn't get any on himself!! :) Two hours later, I came down with it.
Monday, we're fine. Eating very bland foods. Resting. Puzzles. Video games. |
